12/01/2021
Ali Eshqi

In 2010’s jazz music which had been stripped off of its real soul as the spiritual, cultural, social and political identity of black people for decades and had been neutralized by being performed at conservative jazz festivals and lobby of hotels gained back its political edge again. New generations started to listen to jazz on open air festivals among rock and hip hop music for the first time. Jazz became cool again.

On this episode we’ll review this revival by listening to Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington, Youssef Kamaal, Sons of Komet, Moses Boyd, The Comet is coming and others.
